unique & Jazzy New Orleans Style Las Vegas Wedding
Meg and Val’s New Orleans style Las Vegas wedding was anything but traditional. It was colorful, energetic, and so uniquely them.
They started the night at Sure Thing Chapel, where Hellvis and his brother Baby Devil performed for their ceremony, which perfectly fit their “til death do us part” theme in the coolest way. From there, they brought a little New Orleans energy (as an homage to Val’s home) to Fremont Street with a jazz line processional from the chapel to Cheapshot, where the music continued into a mini reception full of red, pink, gold, and so much fun.
It was sweet, badass, a even little theatrical, and the perfect reminder that your wedding day doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s to feel special. And not only did I capture their day through photos, but on Super 8, too. You can see their video on my Super 8 portfolio page!
A Sure Thing Chapel Hellvis Wedding in Las Vegas
Meg and Val’s Sure Thing Chapel wedding was the kind of ceremony that could only happen in Las Vegas. They were greeted at the entrance by Hellvis. His ceremonies are known for profanity, shenanigans, and plenty of fun, making him such a memorable add-on for couples who want their wedding to feel more like an experience than a traditional ceremony.
Meg wore a beautiful Brilliant Bridal dress with off-the-shoulder sleeves and a red bouquet, while Val wore a black Cinq à Sept suit with silver floral detailing that was bold and so fitting for the setting.
Their wedding party brought even more color into the chapel, with Val’s side in pink, Meg’s side in red, and everyone styled with matching white heart-shaped purses and knee-high white boots. Between the pink heart backdrop, Hellvis’ energy, and the “til death do us part” theme, this Sure Thing Chapel wedding felt jazzy, nostalgic, playful, and truly theirs.
A New Orleans Style Second Line Parade Down Fremont Street
Before their New Orleans style second line wedding parade hit Fremont Street, Hellvis sent the couple off in the most Sure Thing Chapel way possible: with a prop bottle broken over his head for photos. (no worries, he always brings a broom to clean up the aftermath)
From there, Dixie Flats led everyone out into the night, turning Downtown Las Vegas into one big, loud, and fun parade. With Meg being from Vegas and Val from New Orleans, it felt like both places collided in the raddest way. Guests waved handkerchiefs, cars honked, strangers whistled, and people on the street even joined in to dance along with the music.
On the way to Cheapshot, they stopped for Fremont Street portraits and added a lock to the Love Locket sculpture. This was such a unique and interactive experience for Meg, Val, and all of their guests!
A Small Las Vegas Wedding Reception at Cheapshot
After their second line parade through Downtown Las Vegas, everyone made their way to Cheapshot for a small wedding reception that was moody and intimate.
The red curtains, low lighting, chandeliers, and stage gave the whole night such a romantic, almost old-Vegas lounge feeling. They shared a sweet first dance while Dixie Flats kept playing, and eventually everyone joined them on the floor.
They also had the most beautiful red and white cake by Winston Marie Cakes, which fit the “til death do us part” palette so well. Cheapshot is such a good option for couples who want a small Las Vegas wedding reception with personality, and I also featured it in my guide, “The Best Fremont Street Spots & Bars for Small Wedding Receptions in Las Vegas.”
Planning Your Own Unique Las Vegas Wedding or Elopement?
I had so much fun photographing Meg and Val’s wedding because it was the perfect reminder that your Las Vegas wedding or elopement can be whatever you want it to be.
Make it personal. Make it weird. Make it nostalgic, loud, colorful, sweet, untraditional, and completely yours. That’s kind of the whole point of getting married in Vegas!
If you’re looking for a Las Vegas wedding photographer who can capture your day in a way that feels honest to your relationship, with a little mood and nostalgia mixed in, we might be a perfect match. Love From Meg & Val:
“If I could give Cruz 20 more stars, I would!
From the very beginning of my wedding planning process, Cruz has been so kind, informative and friendly! Her process was so clear and easy to understand - especially with crazy bride-to-be brain! She sent us questionnaires and really wanted to get to know my partner and I, our story and what are dreams are for our wedding vision! We sent her some inspo photos and vibes and she absolutely NAILED it in our final photos!!
On the week of the wedding, she was communicating with us clearly, helping to walk us through the standard process and what to expect of the Chapel ( Sure Thing ). On the day of, her and her team were EVERYYYTHIING!! The energy Cruz brought was so positive, supportive and insanely fun! I felt like she was a close friend there to cheer me on and made me feel so glamorous!
Since my spouse is from New Orleans, we had a second line wedding march with a full brass band march down Freemont Street to our reception venue, and Cruz never missed a beat!! She was everywhere taking pics and video of everything! Each detail was documented and most importantly, the love and excitement of my new marriage was perfectly captured.
My wedding night was truly the best night of my life! And when we got our gallery my spouse and I were so dazzled by how perfect it all was. Our Super8 video felt like I was watching my dream-come-true, and the pictures brought me right back to our incredible night.
I will ALWAYS recommend Cruz now to anyone that needs a photographer. She went above and beyond, and I cannot express how much fun, easy and exciting the entire process was. THANK YOU CRUZ!!!”
